Arch 468: Inspire
Making theatre without a safety net
Saturday 7 August 2010
Politics
Led by Julie Osman with Tom Hughes
What happens if we start with images and questions to make theatre with a political edge? –
Is politics private or public?
Do political plays have to answer the questions they ask?
What political questions are not being asked?
Bring your own political/theatre questions
Bring two images, one which you see as political, the second as non-political
Bring a page of non-fiction text which is obviously political – not from a play.
We’ll pool knowledge and questions, making a mind map as we go, with some discussion; we’ll also try out practical exercises, using everyone’s images and text to put together some performance material by the end of the day.
For all professional theatre-makers who are open to experimenting; all participants will need to function as performers during the workshop.
How to apply
Please email us your CV, two images (one political, one not political), and a question relating to politics and theatre which you’d like to bring to this workshop to inspire@arch468.com
