Arch 468: makeworkone
makeworkone arises from a belief that the most interesting theatre is created through collaboration, rather than a series of discrete pockets of activity.
How can a writer be involved in the devising process?
How can performers help a writer realise their play?
How can working in this collaborative way enable us to take creative risks with form and narrative?
This project seeks to find a truly collaborative company dynamic, through giving the writer the opportunity to work on a play in practical dialogue with a group of performers and director.
makeworkone aims to:
-facilitate collaboration and exploration between practitioners
-create a dialogue between the process of the writer and the process of the performer
-make theatre which embraces the live nature of the art-form and the existence of the audience
Over six weeks, meeting every Thursday evening, three groups of one writer, one director and five performers will work together to create a new piece of theatre; this work will be presented in a 'scratch' evening at the end of the workshop period.
Dates: 23 Oct, 30 Oct, 6 Nov, 13 Nov, 20 Nov and 27 Nov 2008; showing 06 Dec 2008.
